The Problem
One of the approaches the government is taking to help solve the problem of rapidly rising health care costs is to encourage, some might say coerce, the medical community to move to electronic record keeping for patient health data and information. In doing this they recognize that it brings up the problem of securing sensitive data. To this end they have put forth regulations which cover, among other things, the security of health records. The most well known regulation is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability, HIPPA. In January 2009, the Federal government released another regulation called, The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), which has put teeth into HIPAA. Presently, states are coming forth with their own sets of regulations.
Must medical related practices and companies are not facile in the details of the network security necessary to comply with these regulations and with those coming down the road. Since computer security is not the specialty of the people in the medical industry, Mansurus LLC is prepared to step in to help with this new set of problems for the medical community.
